Kwanzaa Kujichagulia

Kujichagulia ~ Self Determination. “To Define Ourselves, Name Ourselves, Create For Ourselves And Speak For Ourselves

What are you determined to change about yourself to improve?

What are you determined about this world change?

What are you determined in this world to use your voice for to make ripples in the water to speak for future generations to come?

What gets you fired up? What makes you angry enough to say, enough is enough? What are you determined to be the change for this year and for eternity?

I take this Nguza Saba principle as a charge or order, and a question to answer.

One that will be answered when you have lived out your “dash.” What do I mean about living by saying “living out your dash” When you die there is the day you are born and a dash between the day you die. What is remembered and eulogized is the “dash”

One question:

What will your dash say?

I pray in hope mine will say, brave, courageous, noble warrior who lived for truth and self-actualization. Who saught out the light in everyone and every situation. Saw every obstacle as an opportunity for growth and self-awareness. Grounded in integrity bathed in righteousness that can only be crown from the King of the Heavens. Educated and educator. Father and philanthropist, prolific public speaker, and minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Transgender yet transcendent. Lover and a fighter. The reader of words and life. Self-determined to make life better not only for himself but for those coming behind and beside him. A giant slayer and generational leader. This is my hope for the readers of my “dash”

What are yours?

Habari Gani!

Joyous Kwanzaa.

Dear, Pastor->Leaders->Ministers->Reverends->Bishops->Church goers

I know many of my followers have different faiths and everyday I see a “like” or “share” my heart feels great. This is a letter to the church and pastors/leaders

Dear Church, Pastors and Leaders,

Thank-you for your service. There’re are hearts the need to be mended, spiritual wounds that need to be healed and tended too, struggles that require encouragement and stories that need to be heard and shared. It’s time to break tradition. It’s time to break religious customs. No rules, no religion but the true message, authentic message of Jesus. Please don’t preach opinion, and stay away from facts. Preach the unconditional love, acceptance, miracles, tend to the sick, open your ears and hear what your congregates hearts have to say. Teach your members about giving back to the community and reaching out beyond the four walls.

The building where we corporately worship, is just that a “building.” Jesus said that “we” the “person” is the church. So as a people, person; we need to reach out to the drug addicts, to the prostitutes,  to the struggling youth, to the homeless and hungry. We need to teach our congregates how to take the message we hear every Sunday and practice it for ourselves and for the community.

Hearts are hurting and people are crying out for help. We are the help through Jesus. People want authentic believers, and those with pure hearts. Stop the judgment, traditions and making people feel unwelcome. We need as a faith to grow, and encourage people to grow, no matter their faith or spiritual beliefs. Stop picking parts of the bible to follow, and follow the truth of Jesus, the truth in your heart and love of God. Show people that there is a God, and he loves you no matter where you are in life. Teach people people that God doesn’t judge and wants to help inspire them to have a life of purpose.

Lets feed the hungry, cloth those in need. Lets continue the work that the disciples started and Jesus taught. Take us to the KING! We need a word of life to that dying soul. We need a word for those who feel they are unreachable. We need a word, we need to hear Jesus’s teaching, love and why he truly died on the cross. Honestly we need to reach out to those not in our church, but also those in our churches. Reach out to all those you can, pray without cease. We as believers have a job to do.

Sincerely,

Domenia L Dickey

There’s an App for THAT!

I attend church and my is Pastor Martha V. Green, she has a true heart for God. She preaches and teaches with love and conviction. She welcomes and encourages conviction accompanied with the love of Christ. I forgot to mention, she is 94 years old. She has a church of youth with a passion for God, we’ve been taught the word of God, and his love has pierced our hearts.

My mama Barnes

There is a woman of God, a teacher, mentor, writer, who has earned a Ph.D in three areas, lives and breathes for God. Before I met her, I didn’t know that I could be a Christian in a secular world. With three Doctorate degrees she stands true to her faith. After meeting her it was then I realized, that I have no excuses not to live out my purpose. I can make it.

She is now my mentor. I’m one blessed child of God!

My church was looking for a preacher for our youth event I believe, and I suggested Rev. Dr. Sheryl W. Barnes. She preached a sermon and started off her by saying “There’s an App for that” At first I chuckled and thought she was trying to be cool and relate to youth the best way she could.

The over view of her sermon said: “NO MATTER WHAT YOU EXPERIENCE, FEEL, HEAR, THINK, PAIN, JOY, GRIEF, HEART BRAKE, DEATH OF A LOVED ONE, THERE IS AN APP FOR THAT”

That APP, is Jesus Christ. I’ve heard many sermons, but this particular sermon pierced my intellect and reached to my heart. No to mention our youth still speak about this spectacular sermon. She didn’t teach us anything new. She was sent to remind us, what we sometimes forget. Sometimes we allow our thoughts, circumstances, life demands, work and every everything under the sun to distract us , and distract from who lives at the core of who we are. Sometimes we forget the creator. Sometimes we forget the blessings we have received and miracles witnessed. Sometimes we get distracted because our world is busy. Nonetheless,  “THERE IS AN APP FOR THAT,” We serve a King above all Kings, President of all leaders, we have direct connection to Jesus Christ who sits besides God; who knows what happens before anything begins; Jesus is our App!

If I was you, I’d put it on computer, download the app to your iphone, andriod, kindle, nook, or computer. Review it in the morning, and any free time you get. Pray and know that Jesus will listen. Prayer is merely a conversation you would have with your best friend. God wants to bless you. God wants to show you mercy. God doesn’t want you to grieve, live with low-self esteem, crying nightly and feeling alone.

God wants your to download him into your day, and allow spiritual formation to happen. I’m lucky to personally Dr. Sheryl W. Barnes and she is able to speak into my life. We pray together and she shows tough Holy Spirit filled love.

I’m praying that for everyone who reads this blog finds a Dr.Barnes and a Pastor thirsty and after God’s own heart, like I have. Soak in everything they say because the breathe of life is just a vapor and what we do lasts on earth and determines our eternity.

In Jesus Mighty Name!

Amen
